Hunting & AI
Hunting AI & Players
Carnivores need to hunt if they want to maintain an optimal diet. They can hunt for corpses and then challenge for them. They can hunt live prey such as the AI or a fellow player be it an Herbivore or a Carnivore. Either way always reference your dinosaurs diet & nutrients so you are not wasting time fighting something with zero benefit to you.

But all dinosaurs should be on the look out for the ones who hide in the murky and muddy rivers. Deinos will lunge out and drag you into the water till you run out of stamina...
Quick Tips:
You can drag bodies out of the water as long as the "Eat or Grab" indicator pops up. You can also grab chunks or eat while floating in the water. If the water is too deep you can not do this but if its shallow enough for the body is floating you can. As of update 6.5: Grab hint removed if corpse is underwater.
If you are fighting against a player review the Fighting page and also the Injuries and Illnesses page.
AI Make sounds so listen carefully for their movement or calls.
If corpse is swallowed you also get nutrients of the bones.
Blood Trails & Tracking
Did you just get into a fight and you are now fleeing or chasing down your prey? Well if you are fleeing due to injury keep running don't stop in a bush until you feel its safe.
Injuries/Attacks that cause damage could lead to Bleeding. When you bleed you will leave behind a blood trail (same if you drag a corpse it also leaves a blood trail) This blood trail can be sniffed out by a determined hunter. By holding Q (scenting) you can reveal small red clouds that will lead them directly to your hiding spot!
Footprints can also be tracked and appear as white or blue prints on the ground.Â
Deino Hunting & Lunging
Deinos lunge from the depths of rivers, swamps, and lakes. Any body of water could hold a deino of any size so be wary. Also note that not all Dinosaurs can be grabbed and dragged into the depths. if your weight is high enough they can only cause damage. So make sure to protect those who are weaker than you from getting dragged in and dying.
Watch the video to see a Deino hunting from the depths.
Cerato Vomit Tracking
When a cerato gives a dinosaur the bacterial sickness it has a chance to cause them to vomit. If the dinosaur vomits they are able to track the vomit by pressing the Q key.
