Migrations & Patrol Zones
Server Wide Events
Mass Migrations
Mass Migrations are a server wide Migration event. When mass migration is active no migrations or patrol zones will spawn for your dinosaur species.
Happens every 12hr in real time.
Tread carefully as all dinosaur types will be attracted to the area for food and fighting.
Added in Patch 0.17.54
Dinosaur Specific Events
Migrations
Exclusive to Gateway Map.
Travel across the map together, creating a safe way to gather your required diets while lessening the threat of carnivores. But if you fall behind or become too weak, you may be picked off by the hungry carnivores that follow close behind.
As a herbivore, you want to follow your migration path to pick up your required diets. Over time, the migration zone will move after enough food has been eaten at the current one.
If you are a baby/juvi seek out sanctuary zones for safer eating and better growth. As of Dev Blog #52, Migrations are stated to not spawn as often as they used to.
What to know about migrations?
Migrations goal is to get players moving around the map and going to locations that they would normally inhabit as the dinosaur they are playing.
Increased food spawns during season at migration zones
Your diet options can increase while in migration zones.
Better growth opportunities
Species specific locations and migration paths
Some dinosaurs will not overlap migration zones (ex: pachy & stego)
Leftover food will despawn around 30 minutes after new migration zone is marked.
Patrol Zones
Dev Blog #52: "Patrol Zones
are limited to an individual or the group that they lead (group members always have the patrol zone of a group leader), which are smaller pockets of exploration areas across the island that can yield food and benefits should a player go there.
For carnivores, patrol zones that have or had recent player activity in them that are also part of your diet will activate after a short delay. It won’t guarantee that you go to a zone and just see players running around, but it will give you a staging point for a hunt." - Don
