Fatal Error, Performance Issues, Random Disconnects

If you experience chronic fatal errors, bad fps drops, cpu or gpu throttling, or randomly getting disconnected from a server, it's likely due to the competing physics engine plugins of Chaos and Apex. Having more than one kind of physics engine can cause any one a hundreds of problems. There's no fix, this is just offered to give you the likely explanation of the poor performance and other problems experienced in game.

No Chat, Resetting Keybinds, Resetting Use Manuel Alt Attack bug

A bug with getting both the chat and the game settings and key binds has been brought to our attention. The devs are aware of it. Basically what happens is using chat causes it to close, resets key binds, disables chats, and resets “Use Manual Alt Attack” check box. As far as we're aware at least. This seems to have appeared just before or with Patch 0.11.57.02 and appears to have no fix other than to restart the game, and do not use chat at all after restarting as it will trigger the constant resetting of all the above. It's been recommended to not use F6 (to hide or display chat) at all for now. We’ll keep this updated as we find more out about this bug!

Gameplay Bugs

0.11.58.02 Known Bugs

Human Death Server Crash

If humans are enabled on your server, it's strongly advised to DISABLE them asap. Whenever a human character dies it will fatal error everyone on the server, then more often than not, the server will require a manual restart to allow players back on.

First Seen: 6.5 Release

Audio Tearing

There are multiple causes of audio tearing in the game from turning to quickly, to cpu bottle necks, to other issues. It's not known at this time what if anything can be done to fix it.

Omni Pounce Motorcycle Bug

When you go to pounce there's a small chance you'll land and just be able to run off on your end. When this happens there'll be a slight camera jerk that's almost imperceptible. At this point you won't be able to pounce again and on other player screens they'll see you as scooting about in the pounce animation. After a few seconds you'll be able to pounce at the ground to get out of this state and be able to correct the bug. When the bug occurs you do still land a tap pounce worth of damage and bleed while being able to run away immediately. But will need to wait 5-10 seconds to be able to pounce again to correct the bug.

Food Bug #1

When going to eat sometimes you'll be unable to graze, eat, or drink. This is likely due to the game thinking you're holding something in your mouth. Move away from the food or water and spam G, or whatever you have bound as the Grab button, several times and try again. Repeat until you're able to eat. If this doesn't work press ESC, click "logout", then log back into the server and you'll be good to go. As long as your dino is spawned into the game world you'll be able to get back in the game. Just make sure to do this in a safe area as you will be attackable in this state.

Food Bug #2

Many people think they may have fallen victim to ESP hacks, especially carnivore players. However more often than not they have organs attached to their faces that other players, herbivores and carnivores alike, can smell to use to track them from long distances. It's important to note that the one with organs stuck to their face cannot see these organs or chunks, on their client they either dropped or ate them. Just like with the first food bug to fix this press ESC, click "logout", then log back into the server and you'll be good to go. As long as your dino is spawned into the game world you'll be able to get back into the game. Just make sure to do this in a safe area as you will be attackable in this state.

This can also happen when herbivore players grab diet chunks as well allowing them to be tracked by other herbivore players and can be resolved the same as for carnivore players.

Food Bug #3

Herbivore players may find that their diets cannot be seen by other players or that they cannot eat it. They'll start the animation and it'll immediately cancel out. This is because, as of our best guess, the server is not informing your client that the spawn has been consumed. Like with the other two food bugs press ESC, click "logout", then log back into the server and you'll be good to go. As long as your dino is spawned into the game world you'll be able to get back into the game. Just make sure to do this in a safe area as you will be attackable in this state.

Food Bug #4

Carnivore players when grabbing organs or meat chunks, they can attach to your face and warp and stretch across the map for some clients and not others. Inadvertently leading players to you from great distances. While no fix is known at time of writing you can try to press ESC, click "logout", then log back into the server and you'll be good to go. As long as your dino is spawned into the game world you'll be able to get back into the game. Just make sure to do this in a safe area as you will be attackable in this state.

Food Bug #5

A new food bug with this most recent patch, players lose the ability to gain nutrients from food. You still gain food however just no nutrients. Like with all other food bugs the way to fix it is with a simple hard log. Press ESC, click "logout", then log back into the server and you'll be good to go. As long as your dino is spawned into the game world you'll be able to get back into the game. Just make sure to do this in a safe area as you will be attackable in this state.

Hypsi Jump Bug

A few Hypsi players have noted that their tails have been getting stuck up and jumping locked out. To fix this quickly swim or fall off of something. You don't need to take any damage just briefly change states from standing to swimming/falling then back to standing.

Safe Log Bug/Lost Dino Bug

It's unknown to us when exactly this bug first appeared. However despite a few attempts to fix it in the past it remains an ever present issue patch after patch. When safe logging from the game, most often occurring around server restarts, there's a non-zero chance this will cause you to lose your save data. When you log back into the server you'll log back into character select. The best way to prevent this is to safelog 5 minutes or earlier before a restart, or if you willing to risk it simply hard log by pressing ESC, and selecting "logout" in the menu. Then letting your dino sit in game for five minutes. During this time you can be attacked and killed, you will be losing water, hunger, and nutrients, growth and stamina regen are paused during this time.

This same bug can be triggered even if you're offline and the server goes through a restart, however it is far more rare.

Stego Tail Swing Hit Detection Issues

Stego tail swings have immense troubles detecting targets that are on a higher elevation than themselves. Even when their tail still moves through target character meshes. There are a few things that could have caused this from changes in the way it's coded in prep for future changes to this being an intentional change to prep for future changes, to this being completely unrelated bugs. No fix is known at this time.

Nest Compy Issue

When compies spawn on herbie nests and you kill them, if the body drops on your nest you'll be unable to rest on it and the eggs will go rotten. The issue has been passed onto QA.

Nesting Bug

Sometimes when someone spams the mating call with another dino it can cause them to pair with that dino without the other dino pairing with them. Allowing a nest to be made even if the other dino never did the mating call in return.

First Seen: 6.5 Release

Vomit Bug

A bug noticed both in live play and during vomit testing, the bile on a dino being attacked by a Cerato will go just above hunger by a few percent but not trigger a vomit to happen. It's rare and we do not yet know what causes this to happen. We've seen this at 100% hunger, at around 80%, and around 50%. It's assumed it can happen at any hunger at this time.

First Seen: 6.5 Release

Failed Vomit Lock

With 11.58.01 attacks have been rarely breaking through the vomit lock again seen on teno, carno, and stego to name a few but it's assumed it's affecting all attacks in the game. How to replicate and frequency of the bug are unknown at this time. But seen exceptionally frequently with Stego Swing and alt attacks.

First Seen: 6.5 Release, Fixed mostly at some point later. Returned with 0.11.58.01

Omni and Troodon Pounce Bug

It appears that the pounce mechanic is having issues starting. During bleed tests we noticed that often times the omni would just stop moving. This would always happen when the pounce would be initiated. However it's unknown if this is caused by server instabilities or something inherent to the pounce.

Spectate Mode Bug #1

When entering spectate mode, the dino character's hurtboxes are left spawned into the world. Allowing players to still attack and deal damage and bleed to admins in spectate mode.

First Seen: 6.5 Release

Spectate Mode Bug #2

When entering spectate mode as a cerato that is chuffing, you will continue to audibly chuff around you giving away the location you despawned at. When you spawn back into the world other players will see you silently in the chuffing animation until you bite or crouch to stop chuffing normally.

Admin Vision: Edible Plants

Show Edible Plants doesn't show anything on the map.

Input Lockout From Sniffing

A rather annoying bug, this seems to be triggered while using sniff, or pressing and holding q while moving. Causing all inputs aside from W, A, S, D, and Sprint, to be locked out for the duration your scent marker remains on the screen. Devs have said deleting your config will fix this. however at time of writing this doesn't appear to do anything to help the problem. No solution is known other than to wait for the sniff to go away. This was originally marked as fixed for stego in 0.11.58.01, but in 0.11.58.02 it appears to back for all dinos again.
